Midnight Oil have added another special benefit concert to their current Australian tour, presented by Frontier Touring. 


“One For The Oceans” will see the band play their iconic album “10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1” in its entirety for the first time ever in this country, along with an hour of other Oils classics. 


This one-off gig will happen in the intimate outdoor coastal setting of the Fremantle Arts Centre on Sunday October 29. Every cent of profit will go to various charities that work in the areas of reef protection and climate change including AMCS.org.au. It will happen just a few days after an October 24 National Press Club address in Canberra by frontman, Peter Garrett entitled “Trashing our crown jewel: The fate of the Great Barrier Reef in the coal age.”


 “One For The Oceans” will be staged with the support of official media partners Fremantle Festival, Mix 94.5 and The West Australian. Special guests will be local 6 piece - and Triple J Unearthed favourites - POW! Negro with doors at 6pm and the Oils onstage from 7.30pm sharp (all times subject to change).

These presale tickets will be available for 24 hours or until sold out and will be limited to 4 per person with ID provisions in place to reduce scalping. 


General Public on sale will open at 10am WST/1pm AEDT via the same link with tickets limited to 6 per person and similar anti scalping provisions.


Fans are formally advised to only buy tickets by following the real links on the Frontier Touring or Midnight Oil websites to avoid getting ripped off by scalpers.


As part of the licensing provisions any patrons who are not yet 18 years of age will only be admitted if they are carrying a valid ticket and accompanied by an adult carrying photo ID. 


City of Fremantle Mayor Brad Pettitt said:


“Midnight Oil’s decision to play a unique concert right here at WA’s favourite Arts Centre is further evidence that Fremantle truly is WA’s event capital. The cause is one that’s very important to Fremantle so we’re thrilled to support it. This will be a gig to remember.”


Midnight Oil’s actions on behalf of the Great Barrier Reef in particular - and ocean degradation in general - kicked off last Friday in Cairns with a special visit to Vlasoff Cay (pictured below) and a smaller fundraising show at the local Tanks Arts Centre. That gig was filmed by MAX and recorded by MMM for broadcast over coming weeks alongside interviews with reef scientists and other local experts. 


The band is currently readying themselves for sold out shows in the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane. “The Great Circle 2017" Tour will wind its way from the Pacific Ocean around to the Indian Ocean over the following fortnight before this special show in Freo on Sunday, October 29. 


The “10 - 1” album - as it’s typically called - took Midnight Oil to a whole new level after it landed in 1982.


An utterly original piece of work featuring songs like “US Forces”, “Power & The Passion”, “Read About It” and “Short Memory” it stayed on the Australian charts for 171 weeks after its release. 


“One For The Oceans” will be the first time Australian fans have ever got to hear the whole album played in full on a concert stage.

Venue Entry Terms & Conditions
i. Gates open at 6pm and all concerts finish by 10pm.
ii. Permitted items vary from event to event depending on style and layout. Please check fac.org.au for event specific terms and conditions to avoid confusion.
iii. No chairs, umbrellas, picnic baskets, bean bags, eskis, large blankets, helmets, selfie sticks, GoPro, SLR (detachable lens) or professional cameras, iPads, professional recording equipment, large items or dangerous items are permitted in to the venue.
iv. You can bring a fold out cushion (one that folds out to create a cushion with a reclining backrest that sits on the ground), a small blanket, a small soft bag for personal belongings or food, sealed water or soft drink and empty water bottles to fill v. inside the venue.
vi. Any item deemed to be dangerous, hazardous, intimidating or offensive to patrons will not be allowed into the event. This will include but is not limited to items such as glass, steel cap boots, umbrellas.
vii. The seller reserves the right to conduct body and bag searches of all ticket holders.
viii. All Fremantle Arts Centre ticketed concerts are 18+ unless otherwise advertised. This is to reflect that the concert area is licensed, that alcohol will be served and that unaccompanied minors or those with insufficient photo ID will be unable to enter the venue.
ix. Minors are permitted to attend licensed 18+ ticketed concerts at Fremantle Arts Centre if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The person accompanying the minor must be at least 25 years old. MAXIMUM OF TWO minors per parent or legal guardian. All minors must hold a valid ticket and guardians may be required to sign a declaration upon arrival which states that they will provide full and constant supervision of the minor(s). Fremantle Arts Centre does not recommend South Lawn Concerts as suitable for juveniles. Infants do not receive free entry. Fremantle Arts Centre strongly recommends these events as unsuitable for children 6 years and under.
x. Where an event is licensed, or has licensed areas, official Australian 18+ photo identification will be required for entry (driver's license, passport). Any patron refused admission due to inappropriate identification has no right to any refund or exchange.
xi. Patrons under the age of 18 attempting to enter any licensed areas by way of force, stealth or false identification will be ejected from the event immediately with no right to any refund or exchange.
Any patron engaging in behaviour deemed to be dangerous, hazardous, intimidating or offensive to other patrons will be ejected from the event immediately with no right to refund or exchange. This will include but is not limited to running, throwing objects, aggression and crowd surfing.
xii. Whilst every precaution has been taken to ensure the event area is a safe environment, you enter the site at your own risk and undertake to notify venue staff of any hazards or dangerous situations that you notice while on site.
xiii. Fremantle Arts Centre is a smoke free venue. Smoking is only permitted in a small designated area.
xiv. Fremantle Arts Centre accepts Companion Cards. The person carrying the card receives free entry to the event.
